Noah's Ark Clock

With direct family links to the oldest clockmakers in the world, Eastgate’s automation clock depicting Noah’s Ark was assembled by Suffolk clockmakers Haward Horological Ltd – a father and son business. A proud feature, it was installed when the Centre was built in 1983.

The clock, which has kept kids enthralled and entranced for generations, bursts into life every hour on the hour: a door opens, objects move, figures become animated and the chimes ring out familiar animal-themed tunes. The tunes include; The Ugly Duckling, Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, Run Rabbit Run, Bah Bah Black Sheep, Little Donkey, and Mud Mud. At the stroke of midday, the clock is at its most lively with an extended display.

Due to its age, some of the delicate mechanisms can sometimes be temperamental. If you are making a special trip to the Centre to see the clock, please give us a call on 01463 226457 to make sure it is working.
