Created by local business owner Leila Daubney of Make It Special, the festival aims to celebrate the growing yarn and fibre community while introducing more people to the world of knitting, crochet and crafting. Inspired by the popularity of wool festivals in places such as Dornoch, Elgin and Strathpeffer, the event marks an exciting new addition to Inverness’ creative calendar.
Hosted inside Eastgate Shopping Centre, the Inverness Wool Festival has been designed to feel open, welcoming and accessible to everyone — from experienced knitters and crocheters to complete beginners who may simply discover the festival while out shopping in the city centre.
Visitors can expect a fantastic range of independent traders, makers and creatives, including:
• Independent yarn dyers and fibre sellers
• Fibre artists and local makers
• Knitting and crochet supplies
• Handmade gifts and crafts
• A welcoming and supportive crafting community
The festival also reflects the growing creative culture developing across Inverness and the Highlands. Eastgate has become home to a variety of community-led events and local makers’ markets in recent years, helping showcase Highland talent and independent businesses within the city centre.
Leila Daubney, founder of Make It Special at Eastgate Shopping Centre, has long been passionate about creating a space where creativity and community come together. Her shop, which specialises in wool, yarn, crafts and handmade products, opened at Eastgate following her dream of bringing a dedicated crafting space to Inverness. ()
Whether you’re searching for beautiful hand-dyed yarns, looking to meet fellow makers, wanting to learn a new hobby, or simply curious about the world of fibre arts, the Inverness Wool Festival promises a warm welcome for all ages and abilities.
The event will take place at Eastgate Shopping Centre on:
Friday 20th June
Saturday 21st June
