A River of Remembrance Flows Through Eastgate

Eastgate is honoured to unveil a truly special installation in support of this year’s Scottish Poppy Appeal — a breathtaking river of poppies flowing through the heart of the mall.

On display from 17 October to 17 November, the installation features more than 4,000 hand-knitted and crocheted poppies lovingly created by talented crafters from across the Highlands — with contributions coming from local residents, schools, and businesses, reaching as far as Skye. Each poppy has been carefully attached to camo netting to create a dramatic cascade from a five-metre-high structure beside Chisholm Hunter.

This community-crafted display is both visually stunning and deeply meaningful — a powerful symbol of remembrance, reflection, and gratitude for those who have served. It stands as a tribute to the creativity and generosity of the Highland community and a reminder of the importance of supporting our armed forces and veterans.

The installation also serves as a focal point for fundraising during the Scottish Poppy Appeal, which provides vital, life-changing assistance for veterans, serving personnel, and their families.

Visit us between 17 October and 17 November to experience this moving display and take a moment to reflect. Together, we remember.
