Do you worry you wear too much black? Or do you ever wonder how you can bring light into your outfits?
Personally, I love black. It can be sophisticated, edgy, classic, rock - anything you wish it to be! Embrace black as a colour (or is it a shade?) and the endless possibilities that it can give you and together you will have a happy and long-lasting friendship. Read on to see how I style the most versatile of colours.
Currently, I have a slight obsession with skirts, so I am driven to try out some new styles. No matter the style, I generally find that the most flattering length is on or just below the knees. The skirt and t-shirt that I’m wearing were both in the sale and so they were amazing bargains! The skirt is also something that I can create many outfits from - my general rule is if you can create two or more outfits it’s a wise investment. What this outfit needs now is accessories - with this I would wear gold hoops which are having a moment this season! Go simple with a delicate style or bold like Beyoncé with chunky hoops. Black is a cooling colour so gold accessories will add a bit of light and reflect it back on your complexion – as well as ensuring warmth, it will also add a touch of glamour. Add in stacking rings and wedges and you’ll have a simple yet cool summer outfit.
Alongside accessories, for comfort and style these AMAZING gold Sketchers from Debenhams would hit the spot - sports luxe at its personal best. Alternatively, imagine this with courts and a white blazer for a meeting - now there’s an idea for a business event! If you ever fancy some colour, yellow is always an excellent choice when mixing with black and white. I think there’s no accessory better than tassel earrings - head to Accessorize for the widest colour selection!
Featured from H&M is another suggestion for a black and white combo. This would work as a chic business outfit or could be easily switched up for evening wear with gold heels, hoops and a gold clutch - glamour personified.
Moving away from black for a moment – Superdry are embracing the green and pink trend filtering through this year. It’s such a perfect blend of tones that complement each other beautifully - the result? Feminine and utilitarian. The cute pink crop top on the left is super soft jersey and would work well with your favourite skinnies or a skater skirt.
I love the mix of khaki and black with delicate all-over lace in the eyelash t-shirt - imagine the sassy edge it would give a black tux for evening! Channel your inner rock chick and slip it under a leather jacket/skirt combo. I only wish I’d spotted this before my Iron Maiden gig - now that’s another story!
