The Giving Tree

11 November 2020

Now in its eighteenth year at Eastgate Shopping Centre, The Giving Tree organised by the Order of St John can be found adjacent to Chisholm Hunter.

If you would like to help a less fortunate youngster, please choose a Christmas card from the tree during your next visit to the Centre. Each card states the name and age of a child living in Highlands and Islands who, without help, will not receive a Christmas present this year.

Year after year, the generosity of Eastgate customers never ceases to amaze, with the local community donating a staggering 2,160 presents of all shapes and sizes in 2019.

"Christmas is a time of celebration and happiness. But unfortunately, there are many families who struggle to make ends meet. The Giving Tree is a lifeline, sending the message of hope, happiness and giving. With this in mind, we were determined that it would go ahead but needed to make a few changes for it to comply with current COVID guidelines." - Jackie Cuddy, Centre Manager

Unwrapped presents are to be dropped off at the Centre Management suite on level 5 (directly above Ernest Jones) by Sunday 6th December. All donated gifts will be distributed via local charities in time to make Christmas special for many families.

Please do not write on the cards and we kindly ask for all presents to be dropped in a particular zone where it will be quarantined for 72 hours. Hand sanitiser dispensers are also available upon entering and exiting.

Thank you and Merry Christmas from Centre Management.
