Inspire Me...

Today my lovelies we are visiting Laura Ashley, a beautiful store to inspire and welcome you like a big warm hug.  The exterior alone is enough to tempt me in with eye-catching window displays and absolutely stunning architecture.  Conveniently situated next to Pizza Express which means not far to walk if you have to stop for something tasty and a sneaky glass of sparkly.  When I sit in Pizza Express it always makes me feel I could be anywhere in the world -  it has the perfect city vibe.  Now I’m dreaming of the Pollo Chicken salad...goat’s cheese, red Roquito pearls, fresh tomatoes, black olives, salad, dough sticks...oh help I’m hungry now!

So back to clothes because my other passion is food and once you get me started, I’ll have us talking about my menu for the rest of the week!

Laura Ashley always have such complimentary palettes both in fashion and interiors, and this may seem an alien concept but they do often work hand in hand.  During my style sessions I often discuss how it’s not until you add lamps, cushions, artwork etc. into a room that it takes on the true personality and identity. This is the same with finding your style personality, build and craft your look so that you what you see you like, exactly as when you choose a new lamp for example. This is something you will see every day so it should be something you want to see. For example, I’m wondering how I can work pink flamingo wallpaper into my house...too much? I may have mentioned it...I love flamingos!

As for Christmas there is an element of class within Laura Ashley when you choose to light up your home for the festive season.  I am in love with the 'Grown Up' snow globe, I haven’t had one since my Beauty and the Beast one (I was actually 28 but hey, never too old for Disney!).

So, I highly recommend a visit to Laura Ashley, a lovely calming place to wander about for ideas, gifts and inspiration on how you might elevate your home in the New Year.  Then of course a hop, skip and jump away Ta-dah Pizza Express awaits you!

Ruby ruby ruby... In rich ruby red, the Cotton Velvet Shift Dress has a velvet touch feel - the ultimate in laid-back luxe. With Pretty pockets at the front and 2% elastane for stretch the sleeveless silhouette works well to give you a versatile piece. You can pair it with a long-sleeved blouse/Breton tee/tights/ankle boots combo or simply wear alone with Statement earrings and a clutch for a stylish party outfit.

Now you may feel yellow is a bit bright for just now but what better way to warm up your complexion.  It always comes down to how you wear it and with what tones.  You can pair with orange, grey, even burgundy! The Blurred Floral Ponte Dress pictured alongside the Funnel Neck Moleskin coat is actually the perfect partner and complement each other so well. Going to an after-office event? Wear these two during the day with ankle boots and tights and simply swap for heels and a statement necklace come the evening. The beauty is that you can also wear this into Spring when the weather is still unpredictable.

I say it’s never too early to buy your Christmas jumper especially for #worldchristmasjumperday.  Does this happen to you?  See one you love, think you have plenty of time then all of a sudden everyone has the same idea and there’s slim pickings! That’s what happened to me last year so I’m getting in early this time! If it’s something a bit new to you, or you’d rather one that is subtler, they have a gorgeous selection in Laura Ashley, and here is my top tip: wear under a blazer or duster coat for a stylish take on festive fashion.  Just a little hint to show you’re in the Christmas spirit.

When the Red, Red Robin...this is my favourite one it’s such a super cute festive take on a classic Breton top.

I’ll leave you with some of my favourite looks in Laura Ashley home for Christmas and beyond.  I really think I’m going to have a re-design of my home, perhaps more calming tones this time so I can switch off and relax. Well try to at least, my new-found hobby knitting is going well...

PS I meant to say as well as Styling tips within the free 90-minute sessions I can also help with Christmas shopping, I absolutely love it and know how overwhelming it can be!  So be it jewels, beauty, accessories please do get in touch if you’d like a shopping fairy to accompany you.

Have a fabulous weekend,

Amanda xxx
